A super quick post given recent extraordinary events...I just need to reflect on the sheer absurdity of the day.I was feeling pretty good this morning. I took my first day off work in a while and managed to find some '90s Jose Canseco cards in a bargain bin. I got a 1994 Upper Deck Electric Diamond parallel for just $0.50 and landed a couple Tiffany Cansecos for a buck each. I had also scheduled an IRA conversion for today, and since financial markets were down this looked promising from a tax standpoint. I was, at least through 11 AM, a financial genius with the rest of the day at my command.
Then I got punched in the wallet. Repeatedly.
Four separate disasters struck, resulting in at least $25k of outlays. I'm not going to go into the details of most of it, but I will relay the scary one that happened just 90 minutes ago.
After dealing with the fallout of disaster number three, my son and I were trying to decide what we should fix for dinner. We started to smell something burning and tracked the scent to his room. Running through the door, we found his laptop pouring smoke with fire coming from the power supply.
What a crazy day. At least I got a deal on some cool cards.
